Fishing at Cheat Lake

Almost Heaven, West Virginia explains it all. 

Cheat Lake has 1,773 acres of fantastic scenery & good fishing. You can fish day or night with or without a boat.  If you have a boat the DNR, permits unlimited horsepower & the use of live minnows as bait.  Camping is limited but there are plenty of places to stay.

Trout are stocked at Coopers Rock Lake,  Big Sandy,  Darnell and Blaney Hollow all of which are within short driving distance(15 minutes) from Cheat.  Cheat Lake is great for small and largemouth bass,  perch,  bluegill, catfish,  and walleye.

Cheat Lake DNR has the following rules:

• Anyone under 15 can fish without a license WV, resident or not
  
  
• Anyone over 65 can fish without a license but must be WV, 
  resident & carry proof of residency
  
  
• Everyone else must buy a license.  Costs are as follows*:
