Cheat Lake Environment & Recreation Association (CLEAR)

The Lakeview Resort Our Other Site!

The Cheat Lake Environment and Recreation Association (CLEAR) has worked to make the Cheat Lake area a better place to live and visit. We have worked with Allegheny Energy, former WV Governor Gaston Caperton, West Virginia University, the Monongalia County Commission, Anker Energy, the Friends of the Cheat, senior citizens, homeowners associations, and schools to achieve our goals.

We helped establish a recreational park and set aside natural areas where lake access had been limited.  The Cheat Lake Park and Trail hosts a playground, picnic area, fishing piers, fish cleaning stations, hiking/biking trails, boating piers, and nature viewing areas. Cheat Lake can now be safely enjoyed by families throughout the region.

There is still work to be done on Cheat Lake. We continue to be advocates for lake management. Concerns include the preservation of natural habitat, water quality, and sensible economic development. We can help determine users preferences. It will be important to monitor the quality of the water in Cheat Lake to make sure it will support fishing, swimming and other recreational activities. We can support efforts to clean up trash and acid mine drainage. We can help preserve and enhance this special place for future generations.

Join other concerned citizens to make Cheat Lake a better place.
